[Timber Blog] Forestrall goes all Hollywood…

Life at Forestrall Timber & Fencing Merchants took a different turn this week, as the day arrived for the filming of our new introduction video, to be streamed on our own website and on YouTube.

Smart uniforms were donned and staff were duly pre-warned to be on their best behaviour. Naturally there was an outcry that they are always on their best behaviour… In truth, with such a large volume of visitors flowing through the Forestrall yard, there’s little time for high jinks, so all the staff are used to being customer facing and dealing with the public.

So, early yesterday morning, we prepared for lights, camera, action…. Unsurprisingly, given the popularity of this type of video clip, there was actually very little need for such an extreme build up. Clicks Media arrived with their camera, and the shot list and script ideas that we have provided them with, and although they needed to check the outside areas for appropriate lighting and noise disturbances, there really was no fuss involved or interruption of the working day.

Chris Porcas, Managing Director of Forestrall, had the leading role and confidently dealt with introducing viewers to the company, explaining the history of the company and some of the key USP’s, and finally wishing them a fond farewell.

There was little need for retakes, but Clicks Media were insistent on obtaining as close to perfection as possible, so the occasional re-run was filmed, to ensure that the odd frown of concentration was not caught on camera and that all smiles were genuine!

Once the audio was covered, the camera went off on a journey around the timber yard and the mill, capturing a range of shots, including:-

• Frontage of the site
• Garden sheds
• Product boards situated at the front of the yard
• Trade counter with a customer being served
• Salesperson taking a customer enquiry over the ‘phone
• A screen shot of the TimberClick website
• A customer’s order being picked in the yard
• A delivery vehicle being loaded

• Various shots of products in the yard –
o Q-Deck decking products and Forestrall’s own brand decking products
o Railway sleepers
o Garden sheds
o Artificial grass cut to size
o Structural timber including long lengths (Rowlinson Timber and Arbor Forest Products)
o Softwoods, hardwoods and plywood (James Latham, Bausen, M&S Softwoods, Meyer Timber)
o Fence panels and trellis and feather-edge
o Machine round landscaping poles
o Timber Mouldings (Snows Timber and Hoppings)
o MDF Mouldings
o Hardwood racks
o The mill shop
o Board cutting

After three hours, we could confidently shout “it’s a wrap”!!

The work now truly begins for Clicks Media, editing the footage they’ve taken into a three minute video that acts as a primary presentation for Forestrall.

In less than a fortnight, we hope to have the finished product, which we look forward to sharing with all our contacts.
