The Epiphany….

cp-new2No, we haven’t gone mad! Today is the official Feast of the Epiphany date, which has its roots seated firmly in religious history but for most of us means it’s the day to take down the Christmas tree and all the decorations, and finally put Christmas behind us.

As we do this though, it’s a good time to reflect on the festive period that we have just experienced. For those of us in the South East, Kent particularly, it has been a fortnight of unprecedented flooding, the like of which we have not seen since the early 2000’s, and high winds.  For some, Christmas will have completely passed them by as they struggled to empty their houses of precious belongings and watched in dismay as rivers around the county burst their banks.  Heart breaking pictures have emerged of homes with water pouring into their ground floor rooms and creating absolute devastation.  Our thoughts go out to those homeowners and their long journey ahead of getting their homes back in order.

YaldingHowever, as is often the way in times of crisis, it has been refreshing to see some heart warming stories of strangers stepping in to help homeowners out and people rallying together to get through this difficult time.  One thing we did notice was a Facebook page set up for Yalding Flood Victims (Yalding, near Maidstone was one of the worst hit flood areas) where local tradespeople and companies looking to sell goods or services relevant to people who’s homes have been flooded are able to get their information out to interested parties.  It’s been established as a place for anyone in the local community to offer or ask for help cleaning up after the flood and it’s great to see the interaction on a page that was literally only set up ten days ago.  Community spirit is still alive and well.

For anyone that has been affected by the weather, be it the rain or the wind, Forestrall are here to help.  We have relationships with a large number of tradespeople in the Kent area and are able to provide contact numbers and recommendations, whether for internal work or for external work such as fence repair.  Equally, for those people able to tackle the remedial work themselves, we have a wide range of timber and fencing materials, at cost effective prices, to enable you to get your house and garden back into order.  Please feel free to get in touch with us on or 01474 444150.
