We read today, in the TTJ, that housing builds increased by around 24% last year, and further rises in 2014 and 2015 are expected to help boost growth in the wider construction industry. The CPA’s (Construction Products Association) latest forecast says construction output is expected to rise by 3.4% in 2014 and by a further 5.2% in 2015, with housing starts projected to achieve growth rates of 16% this year and 10% in 2015.
Additionally, private housing repair, maintenance and improvement work is predicted to rise 3.5% in 2014 and then by 4% per year until 2017.
This certainly sounds encouraging, and from our perspective we have been monitoring our levels of business, not just via the P&L but by looking at the volume of telephone calls and website visitors, and we can already see that the first two weeks of January are showing an average 153% increase in telephone calls on the same period in 2013. The figures at the month will show us if this increase in call volume converts into an increase in profitability.
Knowing that our customers are actively looking to build their businesses and increase their own profit levels, we have been looking at ways that we can be more competitive and generate ideas that will be beneficial to our client base. The first of these ideas has just been launched on our ecommerce partner site, TimberClick, and this is bulk buy deals for sheet materials.
Online customers can now purchase V313 Peel Clean Chipboard Flooring, V313 Chipboard Flooring, OSB 2 Board, OSB 3 Board, Elliotis Pine Shuttering Plywoood and Far Eastern Exterior Plywood as pack deals. Dependant on the sheet material required, the pack sizes start from 50 sheets through to 225 sheets and offer clients the cheapest way to purchase bulk materials.
With the focus at Forestrall being on providing the very best products and levels of service to our customer base, we’d like to predict that 2014 will be a growth year not just for us but for the vast majority of our clients too.
