We’re delighted to announce that our online store is now live and open for business!
We all know that this is a digital age, statistics report that 74% of the population use the internet, and of them, 66% have purchased a product online. Nearly everything available in the shops can also be found online and this made us realise how essential it is that we are able to offer this service to our customers.
So, are there advantages to purchasing online?
The convenience factor has to be high on the list. Customers are not restricted to making their purchases in set opening hours, they can choose any time of the day or night to visit the site browse and shop. This is especially useful for our trade customers who are likely to be on site during working hours and have to prepare quotes and purchase materials in the evenings and at the weekends. No driving, no traffic, no queuing – the ideal way to shop!
The ability to be able to compare prices between one online store and another is also a huge advantage. Yes, you can do that if you’re getting prices either over the phone or in person, but the time it takes can be immense and if you are short of time you may find yourself in a situation of having to settle for whatever price you find in the first shop you go to or speak to. Not so with online shopping – you have the ability to compare prices from a multitude of different vendors all with a few clicks.
Shelf space in a many premises can be limited, which means that your variety of goods can be limited. Not so with an online store. Over an above that, for a “store” like Forestrall – it’s not possible for our customers to see everything within our yard and our sales office is quite compact – generally our customers come to us already knowing what they want to purchase and don’t “browse” through our goods however what if they don’t know EVERYTHING that we sell? Those people that head to us for their construction timber may not automatically think of us for decking, or sleepers, or doors…. By having an online store, we open up the opportunity for ALL of our customers to be able to browse a wider product list and make a bigger selection of purchases.
We’re not saying that the online shop will ever replace the physical timber merchants. We know that sometimes it is frustrating if you’re looking at something online and you can’t talk to someone immediately. If you have a question about what you’re looking at, you probably will have to wait until office opening hours (7am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 11am on a Saturday – Forestrall opening hours) to get a question answered (however you can call us on 01474 444150 in office hours to get your questions answered). We also appreciate that lots of our customers like to take advantage of our milling and cutting services, so will always come into the yard with their specific size and dimension requirements.
We hope that we have found a perfect balance between offering our clients a great, new online service whilst also maintaining our high level of personal, customer focussed service within the timber yard.
